Causes of Lack Luster Teeth
Every age in our lives bring on a new imperfect stage to dread. For our teenage years we worried about zits and acne. In the middle age, we find more of ‘us’ around our middle. With the older years, we can expect thinning hair and shades of grey. It’s all the process of life and the transformations we experience over the years. You can learn to cope and maybe even enjoy these times in life. When you desire a beautiful smile, however, it can be tough to come to terms with a not so white and glowing smile. The smile is capable of opening doors, securing job opportunities and showing kindness to strangers. It is important to have a beautiful smile!
You aren’t to blame! The teeth experience many years of eating, drinking and abuse. No matter how disciplined you are to care for your teeth with brushing, flossing and visiting the dentists, life takes its toll on your teeth.
What Causes Stains on the Teeth
Beverages: coffee, soda, fruit juices, red wine and teas. Even water can stain teeth if the water contains high levels of fluoride. This is especially true if the levels are consumed during childhood.
Medication: there are many medications on the market such as tetracycline are capable of staining the teeth.
Tobacco: This is one of the worst things you can do to your white teeth. Nicotine and other chemicals found in cigarettes, including the tar, will turn teeth an ugly shade of yellowish brown.
Foods: All berries like blueberries, cherries, strawberries and blackberries are capable of staining the teeth. In addition, balsamic vinegar, ice pops, soy sauce, chocolate and the acidic nature of tomatoes can be the culprit. Acidic foods make the tooth enamel softer making it easier for the teeth to become stained.
